Dr. Kubra Nur Ozcan started Recurbate Beauty Salon in Jersey City because she wanted to create a place where people could feel good about themselves. After working for nearly 11 years in the beauty industry, Dr. Kubra noticed something important: many beauty places focus only on making people look different, not better.
“I remember a client who came to me after a bad experience at another salon,” Dr. Kubra says. “She told me, “They didn’t listen to what I wanted. They just did what they thought was trendy.’ That’s when I knew I needed to open a salon where listening comes first.”
In 2018, Dr. Kubra opened Recurbate in a small space with just two chairs. Today, we’ve grown to our current location at 42-44 Prospect Street, where our team helps hundreds of clients each month.
Our name, “Recurbate,” combines “recur” and “curate.” It reflects our belief that beauty care should be recurring (regular care, not one-time fixes) and curated (carefully selected for each person).
